Ellensburg Blue Agate Area (Reecer Creek / Green Canyon)
Approximate — check official site before visiting
The Kittitas Valley is the only place in the world where Ellensburg Blue agate is found — a rare cornflower-blue chalcedony. Original source material weathered out of Miocene basalt flows and concentrated in alluvial gravels along Reecer Creek, Green Canyon, and surrounding drainages. Most land is private — landowner permission required. Some adjacent BLM parcels produce occasional specimens.
