Productive road cut on Route 103 where it crosses the Williams River. South of the river, a muscovite schist contains quartz, garnet, tourmaline, staurolite and kyanite crystals — historically mined for garnet. Northwest of the bridge, a separate outcrop contains actinolite, diopside, calcite, sphene and pyrite. Easy sedan access with pull-offs available. Do not hammer on active highway cuts.
