Cretaceous fossil collecting site in Holmdel, Monmouth County, NJ. Part of the Ramanessin Brook Greenway. The brook cuts through the Navesink Formation exposing 67-74 million year old fossil deposits. Known for abundant shark teeth (Cretolamna, Squalicorax, Archaeolamna, Scapanorhynchus), mosasaur teeth, fish teeth, crab claws and burrows, and other marine fossils. Popular alternative to nearby Big Brook. Free public access, same general Monmouth County fossil collecting rules apply. No permit needed for small groups.
