Historic iron mining area on the Marquette Iron Range. Jasper Knob (downtown Ishpeming) is a city-owned preserved landmark of banded jaspilite — the 'World's Largest Gemstone.' The Champion Mine dumps west of Champion village produce specular hematite, jaspilite, and quartz specimens — obtain landowner permission before collecting. NOT an agate location.
